This year has been challenging on so many levels, but John Prine’s death yesterday from the virus has left everyone in the music world reeling. I was lucky to see him on his first two tours, even got to meet him backstage around 1973, not sure how, but I must have known someone who pulled a string for me.

I have two covers in my collection, Flashback Blues from a live gig in 1974 and Far From Me from Songs From the Third Act. Given his health challenges, we were so blessed to have him along for the ride for so long. His brilliance and wit will always be with us.
